When it comes to weddings the internet is overflowing with tips and photos of all sorts of ways to celebrate your special day here is a list to delight, disgust and inspire you as you consider what theme would best suit you and your partner on the big day and what to avoid.

The Good

I’ve decided to ease you in with some genuinely beautiful affairs that we here at Theme-Works can help you re-create for your own big day.

Catherine Heigl and Josh Kelley

When Grey’s Anatomy star Catherine Heigl married musician Josh Kelley the couple chose to have a winter wonderland theme at their December nuptials which was held in the Rocky Mountains.

Regardless of where you hold it, a winter wedding certainly benefits from being themed in this way especially in grey Britain where guests will be feeling the chill but expecting rain rather than snow.

Our team will guide you through how a truly magical and elegant winter theme can be created for your wedding.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

While the end of the marriage seemed to be a plethora of accusations and undignified behaviour the beginning of this couple’s married life was an ornately decorated Indian themed wedding complete with a vegetarian Indian banquet.
This vibrant theme will guarantee a joyful fun event where performances by Bollywood style dancers and henna tattoos for the guests can be incorporated.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz

Jessica Simpson’s pop-star sister married in style with an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding held at her parents’ house. The couple took a gothic slant on the fairytale theme which began at 6pm, sitting in heart-shaped chairs and serving their guests tiny bottles of cocktails with the words ‘drink me’ on the label.

At Theme-Works we can re-create this theme for you, decorating your wedding venue as the Queen of Heart’s rose garden with exquisite topiary and motifs from the book like over-sized flowers and playing cards completed with a Mad-Hatter’s tea party reception area and a black and white dance floor.

The Bad

Proving that money can’t buy you taste or a long marriage.

Katie Price and Alex Reid

Dressed in a Swarovski crystal incrusted white gown the former glamour model still managed to look orange at her wedding to cage fighter Alex Reid who wore baby blue to match the bridesmaid who all wore the exact same shade of tan giving them a tangoed hue. Leaving the church Price let rip with a tirade of foul language directed at waiting paparazzi in front of the shocked vicar and then according to press reports there was a brawl at the reception. Lovely.

Liza Minnelli and David Gest

15 Bridesmaids one of whom the bride had only met twice, queues for guests as they went through security checks, £3.5 million spent and a shockingly long kiss with tongues between Gest and Minnelli who separated just over 1 year later – need I go on.

Pamela Anderson’s Dogs

Now we’ve all been to weddings where the couple in question are a pair of dogs but the wedding held by Pamela Anderson for her Golden Retriever, Star, and Chihuahua, Luca, on the beach in Malibu, California.
It could have been such an intimate and elegant affair but the happy day was sadly ruined by Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen’s notorious alter ego) gate crashing on an inflatable turtle. Now that really takes the doggy biscuit.

The down right weird

Sometimes doing something different is refreshingly fun and can really make the big day extra special and sometimes it just doesn’t.

Going Green

Keith Green and Christine England made the national papers with their quirky Shrek theme wedding with the groom dressed as the grumpy ogre and the beautiful bride posed as princess Fiona, after she turned into a green ogre. The couple were mad about the movie and clearly a little mad themselves but guests got into the spirit and a great time was had by all.

Getting hitched to the old ball and chain

The same cannot be said about the wedding of Kevin Felder and Misty Johnson who married just seconds after he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, at his actual sentencing. Yes Misty was married to her beau by the same judge who minutes before sentenced him, the groom wore and handcuffs and no doubt the bride wore a face of tears.

Having your cake and eating.... you

Of course any little mix up could have had Chidi Ogbuta’s husband in jail for cutting his wife open on their wedding day. Following her childhood dream of having her face on her wedding cake, Chida ‘s wedding dessert was actually an edible life size duplicate of herself in her wedding dress, so that at a glance her wedding photos now look like her husband is cutting her open rather than slicing a cake – mmmm tasteful.
